Carson, 34, appeared in Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday morning where he pleaded not guilty to one count of domestic violence, and was given a bond of $2,500 with a no-contact order with the victim. He had been released from custody by Tuesday afternoon.
Springfield police began their investigation when they were dispatched around 7 a.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of Ryan Circle on a report of a domestic dispute, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
The victim told officers when she got home from a night out with friends, she went to sleep in her son’s room before being awaken by Carson choking her, the affidavit said. She said Carson threw her from the bed, causing her to hit her head on a nightstand.
“(Victim) advised she may have lost consciousness around that time. She advised she noticed she was bleeding somewhat heavily,” the affidavit said. “(Victim) had several marks and scrapes about her neck and right eye. She complained of pain all over her body.”
The victim said she was able to call for assistance through her smartwatch since Carson took her phone from their son’s room, the affidavit said.
Officers at the scene of the incident were unable to make contact with Carson, therefore a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Assistant coach Matt Yinger filled in for Carson at the Wildcats Flyin’ To The Hoop game on Monday, due to Carson’s absence.
