After closing to the public March 16 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, plans for a partial reopening were announced April 30.

The first floor is the location of the city’s Utility Billing and Income Tax service counters.

“The health and safety of the public and our employees has been our primary concern during this pandemic, and remains so as we safely reopen our community,” said Springfield City Manager Bryan Heck said via a news release. “Throughout these unprecedented times, we’ve made difficult, yet necessary decisions to protect the health of those in our community while providing vital public services at a time that they’re most needed.”

With the pandemic ongoing, social distancing guidelines from the state and local health districts will be in effect, including a limit of 10 members of the public inside the building at any given time.

The floor will also be marked to assist people in maintaining six feet apart.

Tax documents and utility payments can be placed in a dropbox on South Fountain Avenue, and private appointments with the Income Tax Division may be scheduled by calling 937-324-7357.
