A few downtown businesses in Springfield will close early tonight as the city continues to be under a curfew.

The curfew went into effect Monday and will remain place  6 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Wednesday. The affected area is between East North Street, Center Street, West Jefferson Street and Spring Street.

The decision follows property damage and confrontations with law enforcement that occurred in downtown Springfield Sunday night following peaceful protests earlier in the day related to the death of George Floyd while in Minnepolis Police custody.
