Six things to do this weekend in Clark, Champaign counties

The summer heat is back this weekend. Here are six outdoor events in Clark and Champaign counties you don’t want to miss.

Clark County:

Swap meet & car show

The Springfield Swap Meet & Car Show, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Clark County Fairgrounds, 4401 S. Charleston Pike in Springfield will feature part vendors, cars for sale, and show cars.

Attendees are bound to find parts needed to finish summer projects.

Admission is $8 for adults each day. Kids 12 and under are free. Parking is free.

Paw Paw Moon powwow

Grand entry to this event is at 12 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at George Rogers Clark Park, 930 S. Tecumseh Rd., in Springfield. Gates will open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The powwow is back from a 20-year run that ended in 2014. There will be drumming, dancing, a potato dance competition, kids candy dance, and many food/beverage vendors.

A trade blanket will take place 6 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m Saturday.

Admission is $5 for adults. Children 10 and under are free.

Farmers market

The Springfield Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Center Museum, 117 S. Fountain Ave. in Springfield will feature more than 35 vendors, live music, food trucks, and cooking demos.

Admission is free.

Champaign County:

Farmers market

The St. Paris Farmers Market, 2:30 p.m to 6 p.m. Friday in front of the municipal building, 135 W. Main St. in St. Paris will feature vendors selling fresh produce, local meat, honey, crafts, flowers, and homemade goods.

The Fire Dogz hot dog cart will serve a wide-selection of hot dogs and sausages.

Admission is free.

Color 5K

The “Save a Life” 5K is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ohio Caverns, 2210 St. Rt. 245 E. in West Liberty. At 8:30 a.m. there will be a 1-mile kids run and at 9 a.m. there will be a 1-mile walk. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

5K registration is $30 per person and the 1-mile kids run and 1-mile walk is $10 per person.

Awards will be handed out at the end.

This event is hosted by Logan/Champaign Counties Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board for Logan and Champaign Counties.

Enderle pull-off

The Enderle Memorial Pull-off, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Champaign County Fairgrounds, 384 Park Ave. in Urbana, will feature the top five in Grand National points in all 13 Grand National divisions and over 40 Regional National tractor pullers.

Admission is $25 at the gate. Children 10 and under are free. Pre-Sale tickets are available for $20 at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken in Springfield or Farmer’s Daughter Restaurants and Farmers Equipment in Urbana.

The event is named in honor of bounders Kent and Joan Enderle.
