The new decade is less than 24 hours away and there are several local places hosting New Year’s Eve ball drops.

Here are three places to kick off the new year locally.

Springfield

Mother Stewart’s Brewing Co., 102 West Columbia St., is filling in a missing piece on New Year’s Eve in Springfield.

The brewing company will host the first Springfield New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

This event will feature an indoor ball drop, a wide selection of beers, a special cocktail and live music.

Kevin Loftis, one of the brewery’s founders, said, “It’s all about the experience. We want to elevate things in 2020.”

Two bands will perform, Freakquency and Subterranean, starting at 9 p.m. Freakquency does musical arrangements covering artists from Kings of Leon to Michael Jackson - along with original material. Subterranean is a jam rock quartet from Dayton.

The cover charge is $15 per person and included a midnight toast.

For more information, search for Mother Stewart’s Brewing Co. on Facebook.

“We’re not New York or Chicago, but we can make it the biggest thing we can for anybody who wants to come out,” Mike Lowrey, the Heritage of Flight Committee president said.

The ball drop will feature a 7.5-foot, 200-pound aluminum ball that comes down a crane to ring in the new year.
