The other restaurants will open in COhatch The Market, 101 S. Fountain Ave., by mid-February and early-March.
Fresh Abilities, a new salad restaurant inspired by Porttion, a Columbus-based start-up that deliverers healthy prepared meals nationally, is expected to open in mid-February.
This “quick serve restaurant” is a part of The Abilities Connection’s (TAC) new initiative.
TAC is harvesting lettuce in their hydroponic greenhouse and shipping it to Fresh Abilities, while employing and training people with disabilities.
“Everything we do here is only to train and serve the people with disabilities,” James Zahora, CEO of TAC, said. “We look at this as quite the opportunity, quite an expansion for us.”
The restaurant will serve salads, soups, and smoothies.
Specialty salads will include the Amazin’ Asian, the Springfield Legend, Alexander’s Great Greek Salad, TAC Caesar, and the Champion City Buffalo Chicken Chopped Salad.
Customers will also be able to create their own, order online, or choose grab-and-go salads.

“It really is everything waffles,“ Owner Marcy Nesselroade said. “All of those things are sort of amped-up gourmet.”
Waffle prices are expected to range from $3 for a basic waffle to $11 for the biggest sandwiches.
Additionally, they will sell coffee, espresso and tea. The coffee is roasted at Hemisphere Coffee Roasters in Mechanicsburg.

Restaurant Reopens:
The Springfield Bob Evans, 1600 W. 1st St. reopened Sunday, Jan. 26, after voluntarily closing because of a cockroach complaint.
On Jan. 22, the health district received an anonymous complaint regarding cockroaches at the restaurant.
When the health district went to inspect the restaurant, Bob Evans had already voluntarily closed to address the issue.
The Springfield Bob Evans reopened on Sunday morning after sanitizing and putting out traps.
“Upon re-inspection today (Monday), no cockroaches were found and the CCCHD is confident in the four-day cleaning and fogging process that the restaurant undertook,” a statement on the Clark County Combined Health District’s (CCCHD) Facebook page said. “We will continue to monitor the situation, but the restaurant is safe and open for business.”
The complaint is the second since November.
On Nov. 1, health district inspectors responded to the restaurant for a cockroach complaint and found the complaint to be valid.
For more information or questions, call the Clark County Combined Health District at 937-390-5600.
