In September, the Cousin Vinny’s restaurants in Springfield on Tuttle Road, Fairborn and Huber Heights became Wiseguy’s Pizza, with a different menu and new ingredients. Kettering would not go in depth into what he called a “partner dispute” with Rick Allen.
But customer dissatisfaction and confusion caused Cousin Vinny’s to reclaim both the Springfield and Fairborn locations, said Kettering.
“We apologize for that. We are doing everything we can to make up for it and make up for the inconvenience,” Kettering said. “We had a lot of customers asking ‘when are we coming back, when are we coming back?’ We figured it was a good strategic business move to take back over the stores.”
Back in September, Allen replaced all Cousin Vinny’s merchandise, signs, menus and ingredients to create the Wiseguy’s chain.
Allen declined to comment for this story, but in a previous story, he said, “We just no longer wish to be a part of the Cousin Vinny’s pizza brand. We’re really excited about being Wiseguys. We offer new menu items, it’s much fresher.”
But earlier this month, Cousin Vinny’s was back.
“When we took it back over, we went ahead and brought all our own food back in and brought in new management and most all the workers stuck with us, so we’re going through a training phase with the new managers,” Kettering said.
Allen still runs the Wiseguy’s Pizza in Huber Heights.
