The Graham Local School District Board of Education has named a new board member after the resignation of Steve Price, according interim superintendent Matt Curtis.

Karyl Strader was sworn-in at a special board meeting on Monday.

She is a lifelong member of the Graham community, and she and her husband, Rusty, have three sons in the district, according to the board.

Strader is also the principal at Park Layne Elementary in the Tecumseh Local School District.

“Ms. Strader’s commitment to students and teachers, knowledge of the educational system and her desire to make a difference in the lives of our students make her an outstanding candidate to sit on the board. Her deep roots in our community and student-first philosophy will bring another diverse, respected and valued perspective to our team,” said Board President Leslie Maurice.

Strader will fulfill the term of Price, who resigned from his unexpired term on April 27 due to moving out of the district, until Dec. 31, 2021.

The Graham school board announced the vacancy at the end of April, and due to the amount of interest from the community, they interviewed each applicant, Curtis said.

The Graham community is filled with talented, dedicated individuals with a commitment to our schools,” Curtis said. “Congratulations to Karyl Strader on being named to the Graham Board of Education.”
