Before the festivities begin, however, there is a bit of work to be done. June 29 is Clean Up Day in New Carlisle. Starting at 8 a.m. dumpsters will be set up at the old Westlake Elementary School building at 621 Walsh Dr.
Now this is not an ordinary trash day so don’t bring bagged trash. This is also NOT for brush and limbs because the city has pick up days for those things. It is also NOT the day for hazardous waste.

This is the time to get rid of some of those odd items that have accumulated behind the garage and make your lawn look unsightly. This is the time to get rid of broken appliances, tires, broken furniture, and similar items too big for regular trash pickup.
Please note there is a fee of $2 to $5 on each tire, and limit on number of tires (Up to 6 tires and no farm tires) and a fee for cooling appliances that will need to have gases removed. This event will go on until 11 a.m. or until the dumpsters are full.
Once the junk is dropped off, it is time to celebrate.
New Carlisle Farmers Market will set up along Main Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fresh vegetable harvest is starting and this is the place to find the best available. It’s probably a bit early for sweet corn, but it will show up soon. Cannot wait.
Most of the Independence Day fun is centered around the north end of New Carlisle.
Haddix Baseball and Softball fields will have tournaments all day beginning at 10 a.m., according to Kirby Brown of the New Carlisle Baseball and Softball Association.
The refreshment stand will be joined by food trucks and Kona Ice. The community is encouraged to bring chairs and coolers are allowed.

However, Brown wanted me to remind you all that no alcohol is allowed and dogs are not allowed either.
The Baseball All Star game for 11- 12 year olds begins at 7:30 p.m. and should last until just before the fireworks around 10 p.m.
After all baseball, hot dogs and fireworks seem to go together perfectly.
Fireworks will begin at dusk and can be watched at Haddix Field.
Brown said that since the fireworks are set off 1000 feet behind the ball park, the outfield will be available for chairs and blankets for watching the display. If the weather does not cooperate, Brown said the rain date would be June 30.
Another great place to watch the fireworks is the New Carlisle Swimming Pool.
Weekend fun begins Friday evening June 28 after regular pool hours. Sacred Heart Youth Ministry is sponsoring a Community Pool Party from 8 to 10 p.m. Children aged 10 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $4 and benefits youth programs.
On Saturday June 29, while the tournaments are going on at Haddix Field, the New Carlisle Pool will be open from noon to 11p.m.
This is probably the coolest place to watch the fireworks, however it does cost. Regular admission for the day is $6 for adults and $5 for kids. Little ones age 4 years and under are free. Food cost is extra of course.
According to Pool Manager, April Lowry, a big day is planned at the pool on Saturday with additional food choices, games, music by a DJ, and of course a beautiful relaxing view of the fireworks. There is no rain day planned for pool activities since the pool is reserved for a private party on Sunday.
Two more fireworks displays are scheduled in the coming week. Clark County Fireworks are Monday July 1, at the fairgrounds. Enon Fireworks are July 3.
