Open house set at safety building

MEDWAY — Bethel Twp. officials will unveil the 14,850-square-foot Public Safety Building at a dedication at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25.

An open house will immediately follow until 4 p.m.

The $1.5 million facility at 3333 Lake Road will house township trustees and the Bethel Twp. fire department.

The old fire station on Gerlaugh Road was landlocked and offered no room for expansion, said trustee Nancy Brown.

The new building was funded by general fund and EMS/fire levy dollars and officials expect to have it paid off in 10 years.

Congress hopeful to meet public

A meet-the-candidate reception for Bill Conner, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress from the 7th Congressional District, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Carpenters’ Hall, 240 Ludlow Ave., and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at Hers and His Beauty and Barber Complex, 1532 S. Yellow Springs St.

Light refreshments will be served.

Hearing Monday on naming gym

The Springfield City School District will hold a public hearing on the request to name the gymnasium at Fulton Elementary School in honor of Davey Moore.

The hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, in the cafeteria at Fulton Elementary, 631 S. Yellow Springs St.

Curtain going up on spring musical

The Shawnee High School drama department will present its spring musical, Disney’s “High School Musical” at 7 p.m. today, April 23, and Saturday; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Shawnee High School, 1675 E. Possum Road.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students

Cast members include Jordan Hellwig (Troy) and Kelsey Claar (Gabriella), Danny Valley (Ryan), Laura Buchanan (Sharpay), Brittany Reid (Kelsi), Jake Woods (Chad), Caity White (Ms. Darbus), and Gabe Zeigler (Coach Bolton).

Give blood, win scholarship funds

The Community Blood Center is offering scholarship opportunities for high school seniors.

Students who register to donate blood can win scholarship funds, provided their application is postmarked by April 26.

FOE members to meet Wednesday

Members of the FOE 397, 125 W. Main St., Springfield, will have a regular meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, to discuss CD options and nominations for officers.
