Program to provide help to cool homes
Ohio’s Summer Crisis Program will help provide some Champaign County families with help covering utility bills and keeping their homes cool during the hottest summer months. A limited number of air conditioners are available to households that meet eligibility requirements.
Residents whose household annual income is at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines with a member of the home who has an illness that would benefit from assistance, verified by physician documentation, or with a member who is 60 or older can qualify to receive a one-time payment of up to $175 toward their electric bill.
Some clients may receive an air conditioner and utility assistance as long as the assistance provided does not exceed $175.
Homes that received an air conditioner in 2008, 2009 or 2010 are not eligible to receive another air conditioner. For more information residents are asked to call Tri-County Community Action at (937-652-2246 or 1-866-256-4497.
To qualify, residents should bring proof of income for 13 weeks, gas and electric bills, proof of disability if disabled, birth dates and social security numbers for all household members to their appointment.
