The exhibit, which is co-sponsored with the Champaign County Public Library, is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, through July 28, and Saturday, July 22, at the Arts Council, 119 Miami St.
Admission is free.
The standout piece of the exhibit is a cityscape complete with skyscrapers created by OhioLUG (LEGO Users Group), adult enthusiasts from the Columbus area who use the blocks to make unique creations.
The group has exhibited its works all over the state.
There will also be LEGO creations from local children and adult competing in a contest sponsored by the Arts Council. There will be various age categories and they’ll be judged and awarded points for creativity, with top placers earning LEGO prizes.
“We thought it would be a neat way to combine the arts with architecture,” said Arts Council Executive Director Heather Brackney. “LEGOs are popular. We have them all over our house and our libraries have LEGO clubs.”
Visitors can also create their own LEGO works while visiting the exhibit.
The exhibit’s grand finale will be a showing of “The LEGO Batman Movie,” 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 28. Visitors should bring a blanket or something comfortable to sit on.
