Celebrate the last weekend before school starts with these local events you don’t want to miss in Clark and Champaign Counties.

What to do in Clark County: 

1. Food truck competition

Springfield Rotary Gourmet Food Truck Competition, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Veteran’s Park Amphitheater, 250 Cliff Park Rd. is expected to have 35 food trucks cooking up their signature dishes.

There will be live music throughout the day and a beer garden. Admission and parking is free and all proceeds go to charity.

2. Springfield Civic Theatre preview event

Springfield Civic Theatre will announce the new season with a preview event, 5-7:30 p.m. today at the Bushnell Banquet Center Cellar Room, 14 E. Main St.

The annual meeting will be at 5 p.m., followed by show details and selections from each production.

Admission is free. Wine and appetizers will be served.

3. Antique show and flea market

The Springfield Antique Show & Flea Market, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday will come to the Clark County Fairgrounds, 4401 S. Charleston Pike in Springfield.

Attendees will be able to purchase antiques and vintage finds. Displays will feature products of ceramic, jewelry, photo, metalwork, glasses, wood, painting, fiber, digital, and mixed media.

Admission is $3 per adult. Children under 16 are free.

4. Farmers market 

The Springfield Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Center Museum, 117 S. Fountain Ave. in Springfield will feature more than 35 vendors, live music, food trucks, and cooking demos.

Admission is free.

What to do in Champaign County: 

1. Rhonda Sloan art exhibit 

A local artist, Rhonda Sloan, will be featured at The Champaign County Arts Council, 119 Miami St. in Urbana, 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

The watercolor open house will have new paintings, prints, and greeting cards for sale. Admission is free.

Sloan was recently selected for Watercolor Ohio 2019 and her work will be on display through Sept. 7.

2. Music Fest  

The annual Madden Road Micro Music Fest, 2-11 p.m. Saturday at 1791 Madden Road in Cable will feature live music on three different stages.

There will be numerous bands and performer, workshops, food vendors, art, and games.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $5 for children and teens ages 6-17 and children under 5 are free. Family passes cost $35.

3. B-25 rides

WWII B-25 rides are available 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday at Grimes Field Airport I-74, 1636 N. Main St. in Urbana.

Passengers will be able to crawl inside the aircraft while flying. Ear muffs will be provided during the 40 minute experience.
