Nostalgic Golf LLC can purchase the facility for $6.1 million.

SPRINGFIELD — The Links at Windy Knoll has been in receivership and last week, a judge gave permission for it to be sold for $6.1 million.

The sale may represent a positive turn for the distressed golf course, which anchors a swath of high-priced real estate on Springfield’s far north side.

Judge Richard J. O’Neill, of Clark County Common Pleas Court, granted permission for the course to be sold to a company called Nostalgic Golf, LLC. The company incorporated in Ohio in September, but its local representative, attorney Shawn M. Taylor, did not return phone calls for comment.

The course’s receiver, Reg Martin, also did not return calls for comment.

The course’s owner, Daniel P. D’Arrigo, filed for foreclosure in May and immediately requested a receivership. The course has remained open to the public throughout the process.

D’Arrigo said he has no idea who is behind Nostalgic Golf, or what it plans to do with the golf course he founded in 2000.

“I’ve heard tons of rumors,” he said, “and I’m the owner.”

D’Arrigo would not comment on why the course ended up in receivership.

“It’s private,” D’Arrigo said. “We’re struggling like a lot of other families are struggling.”

Sam Miller, the assistant professional at Reid Memorial Park golf course in Springfield, said Springfield residents have enjoyed having Windy Knoll as an option. But that maybe there were not enough golfers to go around.

“You kind of have a dedicated number of rounds that are played in Springfield each year,” he said.

According to county records, the business has just shy of $4.5 million in debts, including outstanding taxes, which will be paid in the sale agreement.
