The donkeys owner, Tim Arnold, was away from home after he was unable to reach his property due to the high water.

Pancho, the smaller donkey, was treading water before the rescue and had to rest his head on Eddie’s back to keep from drowning, rescuers said.

Donkeys Eddie, left, and Pancho were rescued from a flooded field Feb. 25, 2018, off Lower Valley Pike in Springfield Twp., Clark County, after a neighbor spotted them trapped in water up to their necks.

The pair stayed at a neighbor’s barn until Arnold could repair the fence that had to be cut to free the animals.
