Graham schools names first class of Hall of Honor inductees

Graham Local Schools has announced the first people to be inducted into the inaugural Graham Hall of Honor.

The honorees, all of whom were chosen by a committee of alumni and school officials, were selected for their exemplary contributions to Graham schools. The four honorees include Donzil Hall, David Lush, Steve Fine, and Robert Dubois.

“All have been great contributors to Graham school community. Their examples have helped lay a strong foundation of what Graham culture reflects today,” said Athletic Director Jay Lewis.

Hall served as athletic director, coach, and teacher at Graham Local Schools. In 1973, Hall led Graham to its first state title in baseball. Additionally, he is the all-time winningest coach in Graham baseball history and a member of the Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame 1994 and Marshall University Hall of Fame 1993.

David Lush

Lush is a 1960 graduate of Graham High School and first first team all-state AA baseball player in Graham’s history. He was a member of both varsity and all-league baseball for four years. Lush was also recognized for his academics, placing first in the state in algebra and physics and third in biology.

Steve Fine

Throughout his nearly three decades with Graham schools, Fine served as a principal, teacher, and coach. He was known as “a man with high character and integrity.”

Robert Dubois

Dubois served as band director at Graham schools for more than a decade. He helped establish performance methods, entertainment themes, and dance moves still used by Graham bands to this day.

“A lot of our alumni and staff put a lot of time and effort into bringing this Hall to life. These four inductees certainly provide the community with classic examples we can all be proud of, from academic and career achievements to fine arts and athletics accomplishments,” said Superintendent Kirk Koennecke.

“Graham is delighted to finally install our first Hall of Honor Class, and we hope future Falcons aspire to high achievement as these alumni who came before them.”

The Graham Hall of Honor celebration will take place on April 18 beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and induction ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets are available daily at the Graham Athletic Office for $20.
