“It is hoped that this will provide a community celebration for our graduates while maintaining social distancing,” Curtis said.

“I appreciate them doing this because I know it’s been really hard for them trying to organize stuff for us because everything’s been canceled,” said Tylor Demmitt. “Having this opportunity is great.”

Seniors met at the high school at 3:30 p.m. for the parade that traveled through Christiansburg, Thackery, Terre Haute, Westville, Millerstown, Concord, Springhills, Rosewood to end in St. Paris
“I think it’s nice that they’re still trying to do something for kids to celebrate their graduation,” said Liz Lawrence, the parent of one of the graduates. “It’s hard for kids, but I think they’ll be okay.”

Last week, students and their families came to the school in groups of eight to be video recorded for a virtual graduation ceremony, Curtis said.
“Speeches, etc. were also videotaped and all segments spliced together to make a virtual graduation ceremony video,” he said.
The video was scheduled to air at 7 p.m. Thursday on the Graham Local Schools website and Facebook page.
“We are still hoping to have an in-person ceremony on Aug. 1 at Dallas Stadium, should this be allowed when time comes,” Curtis said.
