A St. Paris native is being featured on the flip cover of Women’s Health Magazine, and is one of five finalists for an opportunity to star in a series of workout videos for the publication.

Lana Titus, 35, graduated from Graham High School in 2000 before moving to Helena, Mont. and eventually Los Angeles. While she had always been physically active, Titus said she became more serious about fitness after she had her first daughter about 12 years ago and wanted to be a good role model.

She has been a personal trainer for about nine years. On Sunday, she will teach a free community workout at 9 a.m. at Melvin Miller Park in Urbana.

“It really just is a passion for me to be able to share my experience and transformation and knowledge with others to help them reach their goals,” Titus said. “My main mission is to show people that it doesn’t matter if you have five pounds to lose or 100. It’s not really about the big number, it’s more about setting small goals.”

Titus will compete with four other women to be the magazine’s 2017 Next Fitness Star. The winner will star in a series of Women’s Health workout videos.

“We have to have something that’s going to motivate and push us every day, otherwise it’s not going to work,” Titus said. “It’s not about comparing yourself to anyone else. We’re all different and we all have our own goals.”
