Background/overview

Armando and Isaac Soto are from San Jose de la Paz, Jalisco, Mexico. The two brothers were 12 and 9 years of age when their parents brought them to the United States. They have many extended family members who own Mexican restaurants in this country, and their parents wanted them to grow up in the same business, with hopes of someday owning and operating their own Mexican eatery.

The Soto family settled in Marion, Ohio. Armando and Isaac had each finished high school, when their uncle approached the young men about this building in Springfield that was vacant and had potential to become their own Mexican restaurant. Soon thereafter, their parents hopes of a Soto family business partnership were realized with the opening in January 2014 of Casa del Sabor; spanish for “House of the Flavor.”

Felix Martinez is the main cook at this Mexican restaurant. He’s headed the staff’s kitchen since it opened. Isaac Soto insists that is one of the consistent factors, along with “our good food and friendly service,” that drive patrons to Casa del Sabor.
