Hasting’s wife, Elizabeth Hasting, 52, was a passenger of the Honda Hasting was driving.
Elizabeth ‘Libbee’ Hasting has been on the school board for about three years, Northwestern Superintendent Jesse Steiner said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hasting family,” he said.
According to a bio on the Northwestern website, Libbee has served on many boards and committees, served as a youth leader for more than 15 years, and is currently employed by the Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center.
Dan and Libbee are also the parents of local country music star, Kate Hasting of the band, Hasting & Co.
The band is scheduled to perform at the Clark County Fair on July 25.

The crash happened Saturday when Dan Hasting stopped for a striping truck on OH-571. A minivan then rear-ended Hasting.
Deputies confirmed the striping truck had all proper safety equipment, lights and personnel. No contact was made with the striping truck.
The driver of the minivan that struck the Honda was identified as Charles Robbins, 60 of Sidney. He and his passenger, Janet Robbins, 70 also of Sidney, were taken to Upper Valley Medical Center.
A third driver, James Elkins, 42 of New Carlisle, was driving a pick-up truck that struck the Hasting’s vehicle after it had been rear-ended and pushed into an oncoming lane, deputies said.
Elkins was taken to Soin Medical Center.
Libbee Hasting is still listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.
