One dead after car crash into pole at Springfield Arby’s

One person has died after a crash in front of the Arby’s at 2620 East Main Street in Springfield, reportedly witnessed by a sheriff’s deputy at 12:42 a.m.

According to Springfield Police dispatch records, the sheriff’s office reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speed down East Main Street when it crashed into a pole in front of the Arby’s.

Records said that the car crashed hard enough to tear the engine block free of the vehicle.

Dispatchers said that CareFlight was put on standby, and that Springfield Police units were on scene speaking to sheriff’s office deputies.

In scanner traffic, first responders described a single car crashed into a pole, with the driver of the crashed vehicle unresponsive. Responders later said they were transporting the driver to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
