Deputies at grocery stores to protect elderly, at-risk shoppers, Clark County deputy says

Elderly and at-risk shoppers are getting an extra layer of protection while grocery shopping in Clark County during the coronavirus pandemic.

Clark County Sheriff’s deputies will be posted at every grocery store in the county and Springfield starting today, according to a Facebook post by Sheriff Deb Burchett.

“Some deputies may be in uniform some may be undercover,” the post read. “So anyone that wants to prey on the elderly or those at risk may want to think twice.”

After reports of senior citizens struggling to find groceries and other needed supplies were reported across the U.S., some stores have announced specific hours designated for seniors, at-risk people and first responders.

WalmartKrogerDollar General and Meijer are among stores that set aside time for seniors to shop.
