“We didn’t take this decision to close lightly,” Brown said. “We know what it means to close this branch and we know what it means to the people in that area.”
Brown said the decision to close the West Main branch was even more difficult considering the branch was the company’s first.

“This was our first branch ever and we are very proud of that,” Brown said.
Several residents expressed their sadness of the closure on the Springfield News-Sun Facebook page.
"Been doing my banking there for 47 years, the employees there are great," Sue Matthews said. "It's a shame they closed this down..."
"This was my branch the past 25 years. Loved the staff and manager here," L Robyn Fell said. "I'll miss that relationship. Hoping they stay with SNB (Security National Bank)."
Brown said the company did “everything” they could to continue to keep the branch open, including adding extra security measures.
“But we reached a point where I didn’t feel comfortable for our associates and our customers,” Brown said.

Other residents were not surprised the bank closed.
"I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did," Christopher Donohoe said. "It's been robbed more times then all the banks combined in Springfield."
"You really cannot blame them for this decision," Kathy Jacobson-Voytko said.
Security National’s West Main location had six associates, between part and full time, Brown said. All associates have been given a position at one of the bank’s other Springfield locations at 1756 N. Limestone St. and 40 S. Limestone St.
