A serious crash was reported at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday near Mechanicsburg when a truck and an ambulance collided at South Parkview Road and U.S. 36. According to emergency dispatchers, four people were flown to area hospitals. One person was confirmed to have died in the ambulance.

2 die in crash north of New Carlisle
A two-vehicle crash in Pike Twp. claimed the lives of two drivers on March 16 when they collided on Ohio 235. According to a preliminary report, one of the drivers reportedly went left of center while traveling southbound and struck another vehicle, which left both drivers trapped. They were later transported via CareFlight to a nearby hospital, where they died from their injuries.

Crashes leave 2 pedestrians dead in 2 days
A woman in Clark County and a man in Champaign County were killed within a day of one another after being involved in separate pedestrian crashes on the counties’ highways, both while assisting other vehicles.

The Clark County crash involved a woman who went to help someone stranded in their car on Old Springfield Road near Buffenbarger Road in the early morning hours of March 13. The woman was returning to her vehicle, which was parked in the road when she was struck by another car as it veered to avoid a head-on crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Then a man was killed on U.S. 68 on March 14 after rear-ending another vehicle, according to a police report. The man had exited his vehicle to check on the driver of the SUV he had struck when he was hit by a third vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
