CORONAVIRUS: 5 things Clark, Champaign residents need to know today

Here are five things Clark and Champaign residents need to know about COVID-19, or coronavirus today.

1. Clark County has extended food stamp benefits for six months. According to a statement from the county, recipients do not need to call the agency for a recertification appointment for the months of March, April and May of 2020.

2. Clark County construction projects are on track. This includes the new housing projects and a new parking garage on Fountain Avenue in downtown Springfield.

3. A property owner is offering a family in need a temporary Springfield apartment during the coronavirus pandemic.

4. Springfield restaurants are being promoted through a gift card giveaway on Facebook. The gift card giveaway is posted at noon each day during the week on the Visit Greater Springfield Facebook page.

5. Clark County school districts are reaching out to seniors. The superintendents of several school districts are posting a letter or video to the Class of 2020 through their websites and social media accounts.
