CORONAVIRUS: 5 things Clark, Champaign residents need to know today

Here are five things Clark and Champaign residents need to know about COVID-19, or coronavirus today.

1. Clark and Champaign school districts will announce year-end and graduation plans soon. Some will make an announcement by the end of the week. The districts are disappointed they will finish the year with remote learning, but the safety of their students and staff is their first priority.

2. Urbana University will close partly due to the coronavirus. Urbana University Executive Vice President Christopher Washington said the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic after struggling with declining enrollment "for many years" lead to the decision to close.

3. Clark County organizations have created a virtual Volunteer Resource Center for residents looking to volunteer during the COVID-19 pandemic. The resource center connects residents to areas where volunteers are needed.

4. Wendy's is giving away free chicken nuggets on Friday. The offer is for regular or spicy four-piece chicken nuggets at the drive-thru.

5. The Clark County Juvenile Court will receive money for new technology. The juvenile court was awarded $13,784 from the Ohio Supreme Court to purchase "emergency technology," needed due to the coronavirus pandemic. They plan to purchase ZOOM licenses, web cameras, TV's and laptops.
