Un Mundo Cafe, located on South Fountain Avenue in Springfield, reopened today after temporarily closing for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 15, Gov. Mike DeWine announced that the Ohio Department of Health issued an order closing all Ohio bars and restaurants to in-house patrons. Restaurants with carryout and delivery options were still able to operate those services.

Un Mundo Cafe tried to stay open for carryout by reducing their hours, but owner Duke Level said, it was not cost effective for them to be open.

“We tried to stay open, reduced our hours, tried to see if it would even work,” Level said. “But it’s not cost effective for us to be open. We were losing money.”

During the closure, Level told the News-Sun that he was making adjustments to their indoor and outdoor seating to ensure social distancing.
