“If we get enough that we have to add another meeting, we will,” Assistant Superintendent Brian Kuhn said. “We interview everyone who applies. That’s our policy.”
The board is filling a vacancy left by Neal Weber, who is moving out of the district. His resignation will take effect on July 31 and the board has 30 days to choose a replacement. They hope to vote on a new member at the regular Aug. 19 meeting.
The selected board member will serve the remainder of Weber’s term, which expires in 2015.
Applicants include:
•Kira Dawson, mother of three Reid students who has served as vice president and president of the PTO and on the levy committee.
•Patricia Diller, a bus driver, coach and volunteer in the district for 34 years.
•William Hoelscher, director and CFO of Littleton & Rue Funeral Home and a member of the district’s levy committee for the past two years.
•Don Humphreys, former associate dean of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Cedarville University who now serves as vice president of operations and instructional design for S4 NetQuest, a learning services firm in Columbus.
•Karl Mayfield, an Air Force veteran who has volunteered extensively with the band boosters.
•Philip Grant Rodgers, chairman of the science department at Franklin Monroe Local Schools and an adjunct professor at Clark State Community College, Wright State University and Ohio Medical Career College.
•Gary Sattler, retired director of business for Beavercreek City Schools and former director of business affairs for Springfield City School District who now serves as administrative director for CitiLookout, a mental health counseling service.
•George Sodders, former Clark County auditor and an adjunct professor at Wright State University.
•David Speas, a former Clark-Shawnee board member for 20 years who has also served on the State Teachers Retirement System board.
