“This groundbreaking is a celebration of the exciting future for Clark-Shawnee Schools that our community has created together,” said Superintendent Brian Kuhn. “We are looking forward to marking the occasion with all members of the community as we begin the next steps of construction.”

Clark-Shawnee voters approved a $37 million bond issue in August 2017 to build the new school and renovate the middle/high school. The bond issue was for 5.3 mills for 37 years and will cost the owner of a $100,000 house a little more than $15 a month.

The state will cover about 30 percent of the cost for the project, about $15 million.

The district has held community forums and events to gather ideas from residents for the new school. Also, the district has toured other school districts that have recently built new schools.
