The Clark County Sheriff’s Office will be handing out free gun locks and safety information Friday to county residents to help keep children safe.

The distribution is in collaboration with Project ChildSafe, a nationwide firearm safety education and gun lock program, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

There are 100 gun locks available, which will be distributed while they last from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday in the front parking lot of the sheriff’s East District Office, 3130 E. Main St. in Springfield.

The sheriff’s office asks that people remain in their vehicles for the distribution.
