“When I ran for office in 2016, the office was downtown in the main courthouse and people always complained how crowded it was, trouble with parking and it wasn’t accessible for handicap and elderly to get in,” Tuttle said.”We needed to find a location that would best serve the public and be welcoming.”
The office on Selma Road is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Tuttle said she hopes to expand those hours soon. She is even considering opening the drive-thru at 7:30 a.m.
“It is the first in the state that has a drive-thru,” she said. “I am really excited about offering this service. Most of the time a title transaction, it only takes a few minutes. As long as you have all the paperwork you need, and your driver’s licenses, you will be able to send that through the tube or send that through the drawer and we will be able to process it.
“My hope is to open the office in the morning at 7:30 a.m. and it will be drive-thru 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.,” Tuttle said.
Tuttle said she foresees having two attendants working the drive-thru.
Tuttle said she began seeking building space for a new title office as soon as she was elected. The new title office is in a Hunnington Bank building that closed in 2013 and has been vacant since. Tuttle said she used to work for the company, before going to law school, and the building was the only one she could find over the last couple of years that fit what she needed.
“I have known this space for years and I knew the potential,” she said of the property that is being leased. “I spent the last two years trying to find a suitable location and there really wasn’t that already had a vault, the drive-thru, the convenience of parking and the affordability that I was able to acquire.”
The new office is the counties third office, the other two are downtown Springfield and in New Carlisle. The title office handles titles for motor vehicles, watercraft, mobile homes, ATVs and golf carts — anything that needs proof of ownership.
Tuttle said the title office is open and residents should feel comfortable using it.
Anyone in Ohio is allowed to use this office, Ohio does cross-county titling,” she said. “You can do titling at any of the locations. I want the public to know I am here to serve them and give them the best opportunity.”
