Employees at the motel declined to comment and said the owner is out of the country.
A confidential informant for the Clark County Drug Task Force reportedly purchased pills from Haulman twice in December, according to court records. The same informant allegedly purchased pills from Haulman again in January, the report says.
Deputies served a search warrant at the motel on Wednesday and said they found Haulman with about $3,500 in cash on him. The sheriff’s report said another employee at the motel has allegedly seen Haulman sell drugs before but didn’t say anything for fear of being fired.
The Springfield News-Sun previously reported that deputies responded to more than 100 calls at the motel in 2016. That included calls about prostitution, overdoses and more. In October, a 6-week-old baby was found dead at the motel.
“It should be monitored a whole lot closer,” said Howard Wilson, a resident who lives up the street from the motel.
Wilson has lived in the area for four years, he said, and crime has been a problem at the motel for at least that long.
“I’ve heard there’s a lot of prostitution,” he said. “I’ve seen a lot of drug deals going on here … That’s kind of unsafe for the neighborhood.”

Wilson wants deputies to go in and do random checks from time to time, Wilson said.
The sheriff’s office didn’t respond to calls from the Springfield News-Sun for comment on the arrest or issues at the motel.
The Clark County Drug Task Force and Prosecutor’s Office are looking for nuisance violations at the business, according to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. The East District Office for the agency is across the street from the motel.
In the past, deputies have tried to work with the owner to prevent crime, the Springfield News-Sun previously reported.
Staying with the story
