“It is an honor to accept the appointment as Clark County Treasurer to fill Mr. Metzger’s term,” Harris said. “I’d like to thank the party for the nomination and to all essential committee members who took the time to be here for this special meeting.”
Harris had been serving as interim treasurer after being appointed by the Board of Clark County Commissioners while the party worked to nail-down a date to meet to officially appoint her to the position.
The Clark County Democratic Party congratulated Harris in a statement saying she will continue to do, “excellent work as Treasurer.”

Harris worked as the Clark County Deputy Treasurer for 18 years under Metzger — whose term will expire in November. Harris is on the ballot for treasurer in November’s general election, where she will face Republican Pam Littlejohn.
Metzger was also on the ballot but withdrew from the race in early March after he decided to retire.
“Mrs. Harris will do a fantastic job,” Metzger said previously when asked by the News-Sun about his thoughts of Harris serving as his replacement.
As treasurer, Harris serves as the investment officer for the county with an average portfolio of $130 million. Her deputies include an annual collection of real estate taxes and manufactured home taxes, daily and monthly reconciliation of all accounts with the county’s depository account and act as the county’s investment officer.
The county treasurer serves on various boards as required by Ohio law, including the Data Processing Board, Investment Advisory Board and Board of Budget Commission.
Harris is also a member of the County Treasurer’s Association of Ohio.
