The Clark County Commission is seeking construction bids for a new 911 Communications Center.

The commission announced this week they would be accepting bids. Construction companies interested in bidding must submit bids no later than 10 a.m. on Friday, March 27.

The Clark County Engineer’s Office estimates the project will cost around $1.3 million. The winning bid must come within 10% of the engineer’s estimate, according to the commission’s meeting agenda.

Clark County announced in 2017 they would be building a new 9-1-1 dispatch center that will allow residents to text, send pictures and videos to dispatchers.

The county said the new dispatch center will put the county in accordance with Ohio’s Next Generation 9-1-1 requirement that calls for dispatch services to become more advanced.

The dispatch center will be located on Home Road in the former Clark County Department of Job and Family Services Children’s Home. The current 3,800-square-foot facility will also be repurposed as an office and training facility. A 3,300-square-foot addition to the building will house the 9-1-1 dispatch center managed by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The bidding process will be open for the public to attend and will take place after bids are submitted on March 27. The bidding meeting will be held shortly after 10 a.m. on the 5th floor of the Clark County Municipal Court building located at 50 E. Columbia St. in downtown Springfield.
