O’Charley’s Restaurant in Springfield is closed for renovations until Friday, one of 30 restaurants nationwide the chain is improving this year.
The store, at 1830 N. Bechtle Ave., is receiving a number of upgrades including a new menu, an expanded bar area, an improved exterior and more space for larger parties, according to information from the company. The business closed on Monday but will reopen at 11 a.m. Friday.
O’Charley’s is renovating about 30 total stores this year, including several in the Miami Valley. The chain is also renovating stores in Miamisburg, Miller Lane in Dayton, Springdale and Cincinnati. The restaurant will offer free meals to the first 50 guests as part of the reopening.
Among the changes, some walls will be removed to provide a more open feel inside the restaurant, and to allow staff to accommodate larger parties. The updated restaurant will also add a new O-shaped booth near the entrance.
The Springfield location will also host a Hometown Hero celebration as part of the opening. Marine veteran Dave Bragg will be honored at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with a color guard presentation from the Springfield High School Marine Core JROTC. Bragg and his family will be treated to a free dinner.
O’Charley’s is based in Nashville, where it opened in 1971. The chain operates 213 restaurants in 20 states, most in the Southeast and Midwest. The renovations are part of a revitalization plan developed by American Blue Ribbon Holdings, a firm that acquired the chain in 2012.
