Here are things to do in Springfield this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Maple Syrup Camp Day

The Clark County Park District is hosting a maple syrup camp day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at George Rogers Clark Park, 930 S. Tecumseh Rd. in Springfield.

Attendees will help in harvesting maple tree sap by collecting the sap and cooking the sap down into syrup over fire pits.

This event will be led by Justin Houston, a historical interpreter, in the Indian Village.

Admission is free.

Couples Skating

USA Skate Center, 2340 Valley Loop Rd. in Springfield, is celebrating Valentine’s Day, 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is $7 and skate rental is $3. If attendees come as a couple, skate rental is free.

Farmers Market

The Springfield Farmers Market is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, inside Mother Stewart’s Brewing Co., 102 W. Columbia St. in Springfield.

The market will feature 20 vendors selling various items including baked goods, meats, breads and artisan goods.

Sweetness of Peace

The Springfield Peace Center will hold their annual “Sweetness of Peace” event to promote peace and anti-bullying, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wittenberg University’s Shouvlin Center, 200 West Ward St. in Springfield.

Attendees will receive 10 different desserts from local caterers. There will also be entertainment by the Springfield Youth Symphony Orchestra and several door prizes.

Tickets are available for purchase online for $15 until 9 a.m. Sunday.

Proceeds from the event will help “sponsor” children attending their Peace Camp in June.
