EARLIER REPORT

An Endangered Child Advisory for Clark County now has been issued in the missing Springfield children case for Kaiden Coran, 4, and his sister, Brailynn Coran-White, 8 months.

The advisory, issued by Springfield 911 Communications Center, is for the following regions: Clark, Champaign, Greene, Madison, Miami and Montgomery counties.

The children are believed to be in danger, Springfield Police Division officials said in the advisory.

The Springfield Police Division contacted the Ohio State Highway Patrol to request a statewide alert, but the incident did not meet the criteria for such an alert, said Lt. Russell Pasqualetti, Ohio State Highway Patrol in Columbus.

There being reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred, and law enforcement must believe the child or children are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.

The state patrol, which determines when a statewide alert is issued, determined there was no specific or imminent threat to the children in the Coran case, Pasqualetti said.

Troopers are patrolling the Springfield and Clark County areas, he said.

According to Springfield police, Khadejha Emony Coran, 22, abducted her two children sometime after 3 p.m. Tuesday after she lost custody at a Clark County Children Services hearing.

Right after the hearing, Coran went to two separate daycare facilities in the city to get her children, Springfield police Sgt. Joe Tedeschi said.

“I don’t believe the daycares knew Ms. Coran was not to have custody of the children,” he said.

The hearing involved an investigation by Springfield police and county children services into the care and safety of the Coran children, he said.

“We’ve had no indication the children were placed in danger,” the sergeant said. “Obviously, the circumstances cause concern.”

Police don’t know Coran’s whereabouts or her destination.

Coran, who is black, is 5-foot-6 and 200 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

She is believed to be driving a four-door, light green 2007 Ford Focus bearing Ohio license plate HRE 8196.

The missing children are:

  • Kaiden Coran, 4 years old. He is 4-foot-1 and 40 pounds.
  • Brailynn Coran-White, 8 months. She is about 30 inches tall and 20 pounds.

Both have black hair and brown eyes.
