The Blue Jacket Dairy in Logan County won a top prize at the Ohio State Fair, according to information from the company.

The dairy, at 1434 County Road 11 in Bellefontaine, earned a ribbon for first place in the soft and spreadable cheese category. The company won for its Lemon Jewel Quark, its sweet breakfast cheese.

“It is an honor to receive an award for our Lemon Jewel Quark,” said cheesemaker, Angel King in a news release. “And it is our pleasure to provide our customers with this delicious award-winning cheese.”

All of the cheese entered for the Ohio State Fair contest will be on display from July 25 to Aug.5 at the Ohio State Fair in the Dairy Products Barn next to the butter cow sculpture.

Several chefs throughout Ohio have items with Blue Jacket cheese on their menus. Blue Jacket cheese can also be purchased locally at the Blue Jacket creamery on County Road 11; at a number of specialty retailers and a variety of farmers markets, including Clintonville, Worthington, Bellefontaine and Hilliard.
