The Northwestern Board of Education president is running for re-election this November.

Donna Myers, who has served the district for 20 years, said she wants to keep her seat.

“I am now running as a write-in candidate,” she said.

Northwestern has three seats open but only two people will be on the ballot, according to the Clark County Board of Elections. Incumbent Andy Gundolf and newcomer Leigh Taylor will be on the ballot. Myers said Taylor applied the last time Northwestern needed to appoint a board member but Jason Chilman was selected.

Taylor was encouraged to run this year. Myers said with the candidates in place she felt it was a good time to step down.

“I did pull petitions but decided to retire with three good candidates,” she said.

When Chilman didn’t make the ballot, Myers said she decided to run to fill the school board.

“I have enjoyed my time on the board and will continue to advocate for our school district and all other public districts if reelected,” Myers said.
