“One hundred percent of the funds raised will be used to provide financial assistance to the women of Clark and Champaign counties who do not have the resources necessary to ensure breast health or cope with breast cancer,” said Nina Wiley,Volley for the Cure coordinator and dean of student engagement and support service for Clark State.

Wiley said the event raised $1,385.50 in 2018, all of which went directly to the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County. Since 2008, Clark State has raised $7,387.13 for breast cancer research and awareness.
“The mission of the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund is to provide financial and emotional support to women in Clark and Champaign counties who have received a diagnosis,” said co-founded of the fund and breast cancer survivor, Gretta Runyan.

As a 33-year breast cancer survivor, Runyan said she understands how important that support can be.
“For the past 11 years, Clark State has provided needed financial support to the BCEF. Because of their commitment, more patients will be helped,” Runyan said.
Teams from Clark State, Bobby Fisher Distributing and Assurant will participate in Volley for the Cure event. Wiley encourages family, friends and the community to come watch the volleyball games and participate in the event.
“We are proud to partner with the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund of Clark County and to help support the financial assistance offered to survivors,” Wiley said.
In addition to volleyball, the free event will also offer additional activities of face painting, pumpkin painting, concessions, a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction.
The winning volleyball team will be recognized with an award from Clark State. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m.
