Greenon, Southeastern schools to dismiss early due to heat

Greenon and Southeastern Local Schools will dismiss students early due to the heat.

Greenon will dismiss students two hours early today and Wednesday due to excessive temperatures in classrooms, according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.

Greenon Jr./Sr. High School will dismiss at 12:10 p.m.; Enon Primary will dismiss at 1:15 p.m.; AM Preschool was scheduled to be held from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; PM Preschool will be held 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.; and Indian Valley will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.

The district also dismissed students early four other days during the first week of school on Aug. 25 through 28 due to excessive temperatures.

Southeastern Local Schools will dismiss students two hours early today due to high temperatures in the buildings, according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.

Students will be released from school two hours before their regularly scheduled time, the post said.

The district also canceled their first day of school on Aug. 26 due to the heat as it was also too hot in their buildings.

SELS will be on a 2HR EARLY RELEASE schedule for Tuesday, September 8th, due to high temperatures in the buildings....

According to the National Weather Service, it will be humid with high temperatures reaching 90 degrees for today and Wednesday.
