“I have had the privilege of serving in various government positions for more than three decades and felt it was time to retire and let another township resident have an opportunity to serve the community,” Farrell said in the release.
Farrell has served seven years as a township trustee, the release stated. He is currently the vice president of the township trustees board and is a past two-term president of the Clark County Township Association.
“Serving Green Township was a great way to close out my career in public service,” Farrell said. “I’m looking forward to having more quality time to spend with friends and family.”
The township is now looking for a new trustee to replace Farrell. That person will be appointed sometime in December to serve the remainder of the unexpired term through Dec. 31, 2021.
Trustees are accepting resumes and cover letters until Dec. 1, the release stated. Candidates must be 18 or older, a United States citizen, an Ohio resident for at least 30 days before the appointment and a Green Twp. resident. The position pays $12,000.
According to the release, Farrell said some of his accomplishments as a trustee include starting a volunteer run EMS service in Pitchin, hiring a new fire chief at the Hustead fire station, providing voluntary drop-off service service for recyclable materials in Pitchin, starting a Safe and Sound program for elderly residents, improving township cemeteries and securing additional funds for maintaining 30 miles of township roads.
