German Twp. firefighters responding to a house fire on Ballentine Pike Monday morning learned the owner reportedly set the fire intentionally while demolishing it.

The owner did not have any permits from Clark County or the EPA, said German Twp. Fire Chief Tim Holman.

“We didn’t extinguish it. We let it burn,” the chief said. “We’re not going to utilize our resources for a demolition.”

There was no danger to anyone.

Holman said he knows the owner and had a “strongly worded conversation” with him.

“I’ve never had anything like this before,” the fire chief said.

The fire department plans to follow up with the county and the EPA.
