Camiyah Carty, 18 months, died as a result of the Nov. 28 crash.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, Camiyah’s mother, Ciera Jones was driving in the right lane going eastbound on state Route 4 at around 5 to 10 mph with her hazards on after getting a flat tire.

Stricklen also was driving eastbound when she saw Jones’ white PT Cruiser.
“(Stricklen) stated she saw the hazard lights ahead but did not realize how slow the vehicle was driving,” the affidavit said. “As she approached the vehicle, (her passenger) shouted ‘Babe! Car!’ (Stricklen) stated she swerved from the right to the left lane, while braking.”
Brake marks from the scene show that Stricklen’s vehicle did not brake in a straight line, meaning her car moved from the left lane to the right lane, where it struck Jones’ rear, according to the affidavit.
“Post-collision, (Stricklen) drove off the right side of the roadway into the guardrail where it stopped,” the affidavit said. “The PT Cruiser spun around driving off the left side of the roadway and stopping in the median.”
Camiyah Carty later died at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek of blunt force trauma due to, “multiple skull fractures from the collision,” the affidavit said. Sgt. Shane Meddock of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said at the scene of the crash the toddler was properly belted in a car seat when the accident occurred.
Stricklen is next due in court on June 26.
