5 things to know about man who flung feces in court

Here are five things to know about Ricky Hand, the 46-year-old Springfield man who smuggled feces and urine into court and threw them after being sentenced to Wednesday in Clark County.

5 THINGS TO KNOW:

1. Hand initially faced 30 charges of breaking and entering, safe-cracking, aggravated robbery, abduction and attempted safe-cracking for a crime spree in Clark County. He eventually pleaded guilty to seven charges.

2. He used a gun in 11 of the 13 business crimes he committed, investigators said. He struck drive-thrus, bars, a nail salon and fast food restaurants. A clerk shot him during an attempted robbery March 23.

3. Hand had been out of prison for a 2011 robbery less than six months before his January crime spree began.

4. He faces new charges of harassment with a bodily substance – one count each for his attorney and four deputies who restrained him in court after his outburst – plus obstructing official business and retaliation.

5. Hand was handcuffed and in a wheelchair for arraignment Thursday on the new charges. He pleaded not guilty but told the judge he was "sorry for being a criminal."
