Springfield woman is injured in an early morning attack

Stab victim’s husband answers her 911 call.

SPRINGFIELD TWP. — After being stabbed Friday morning, April 30, outside her Larchmont Avenue home, a Clark County woman’s 911 call for help was answered — by her husband, a dispatcher.

“It’s Angie,” she’s heard on the 911 call. “I need help.”

The woman, whose full name was withheld Friday by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries after she reportedly was attacked by an unknown man shortly after 1 a.m. in the 200 block of Larchmont.

In her call for help, she explained to her husband that she had gone out to shut the gate after noticing that it was open.

“It’s OK, baby,” her husband can be heard on the 911 call. “I’ll be there in a minute, OK? Just calm down.”

Deputies and emergency medical service workers provided first aid, then set out to search for the suspect, described as a white, thin man wearing dark clothing, a knit cap, gloves and work boots. No one was found.

Authorities are still investigating the case and anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (937) 328-2560.
