Ericah E. Bess, 36, pleaded not guilty to one count of endangering children in Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday morning. Bond was set at $7,500.
Springfield Police Division officers were sent to a home in the 1800 block of South Belmont Avenue for a suspected heroin overdose. A neighbor told police she received a call from a woman who said Bess had allegedly overdosed. The woman told the neighbor she was scared to call 9-1-1 and later left the home.

Bess was revived with two doses of Narcan and transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center. Bess and the other woman allegedly took heroin and smoked crack cocaine with a child in the home, she told police.
At the home, a 3-year-old child told police: “Mommy was asleep and I couldn’t wake her up.” Children’s Services was called and the child was later placed with family.
