Springfield suffers 3rd shooting in two weeks

Springfield police responded Tuesday afternoon to what is the city’s third shooting in two weeks.

Details of the most recent shooting are limited. Officers responded to a home on the 500 block of Homeview Avenue at around 1:40 p.m.

A man was shot in the chest, according to Springfield police, and reports are that a medical helicopter was called to transport the victim from Springfield Regional Medical Center.

The incident is the third shooting in Springfield since July 26. Springfield Police Division responded to a shooting on that day to the area of Todd Avenue and Selma Road.

A police report says officers found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was expected to survive.

On Sunday, officers responded to a home on Delcourt Drive where they found another 26-year-old shot.

“(The victim) was suffering from multiple gun wounds to his chest, left arm, left ribcage area and lower back,” a police report says.

Miami Valley Hospital officials confirmed he was still in the hospital Tuesday afternoon, but could not provide his condition.
