A Springfield man was reportedly attacked and shot at and police are still looking for a suspect.

Springfield police began their investigation on Thursday at around 12:30 p.m. when they were called to a home in the area of Woodward Avenue and Parkwood Avenue, according to a police report.

CRIME REPORT: Springfield boy says a man tried to lure him into a car — he ran away instead

“(A man) stated that he and another male had been on the front porch smoking and he had went inside to sit on the couch,” the police report says. ” (A man) stated that he heard noise coming from upstairs and called out to see if someone was there. (The man) stated no one said anything back so he started looking at his phone.”

However, a man walked into the living room, the report says. The man told him he was there on behalf of a mutual friend and started to attack the victim, the report says.

“(The man) stated he eventually made it up off the couch and began fighting back,” the report says. “(The man) stated that the male pulled out a semi-auto pistol that was camo in color. (The man) stated that he yelled for his friend and both were able to chase the male out of the front door.”

However, police said the man told them the suspect circled the house twice in his vehicle and eventually fired a shot.

“A spent shell casing was recovered and submitted,” the report says.

No one’s been arrested and the case is still under investigation.
