In that shooting, police said that around midnight two men knocked on the house’s door and asked for some assistance with their vehicle, the report says. The report says two men from the home volunteered to go outside to see if they could help.
“They advised the males were in a gray two-door Chevy Monte Carlo,” the report says. “They advised when they walked up to the vehicle an unknown male pulled a gun out and pointed it at them. When he did so they advised (another man) took the gun from the unknown male and put it in his pants, saying ‘I don’t know why he just did that.’ and started laughing”
However, the man would soon brandish the weapon again, the report says, and ordered one of the men to walk back into his yard.
“(The victim) advised he refused to do so and when he did (the suspect) told him to get on the ground,” the report says. “(The victim) again refused to do so and started walking back to his front door to go inside. As (the victim) got into the doorway of his residence (the suspect) grabbed him by the shirt. (The victim) advised he ripped away from him and then hit him in the face. When he did so (the suspect) let go of (the victim). (The suspect) then fired a gun toward (the victim) but did not hit him.”
The report says the two men were able to call 9-1-1, but the suspect was able to get away. The report says Springfield police returned to the home to gather more evidence in the evening.
No charges have been filed in the case.
